On the first days of the New Year, our family noticed a Ben’s Bell quietly swinging from the trees in the green space across from our home. It wasn’t loud or attention-seeking—just there, gently moving, waiting to be noticed.

In the stillness of winter, it felt like a simple reminder that kindness is always around us. Sometimes it shows up in big ways, but more often, it appears quietly—through small, intentional acts meant for no one in particular and everyone all at once.

To the person who placed it there: thank you. What you left behind mattered. It created a pause, a moment of reflection, and a sense of connection that lingered long after we noticed it.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ben’s Bells, their mission is rooted in spreading kindness through simple, intentional acts. You can learn more at bensbells.org.

Ben’s Bells exist to encourage intentional acts of kindness and this small gesture was felt in a very real way. Sometimes the simplest reminders are the ones that stay with us the longest.
